Downtime:
We have had several months of downtime. During this time Orak worked on securing the guild and the necessary paperwork. Roman trained and studied, Rapture trained and studied and Cardek was captured and enslaved. I luckily found Cardek while I was gathering supplies and looking for vendors at a market. I bought his freedom and we returned to my guild. We were contacted by Roman shortly after to go on a mission.
Wolvesbane:
It has been reported that there may be a serial killer on the loose.
Roman was given several badges to show our authority while working in Wolvesbane. They also allowed a zone of truth ability once per day while within 5' of each other.
Just outside of Wolvesbane we noticed a large amount of rat tracks. Also the town seemed to be infested with rats. Our investigation of the bodies showed that some were bitten to death by what looked like rats as well as cut by some form of a bladed weapon. There were holes that rates moved in and out of running all under the towns buildings. The town had imposed a curfew to keep people off the street at night.
While watching the first night we noticed that several townsfolk came out of their homes and blew a signal whistle of some sort. Other townsfolk (approx 20) joined in and they all went into the woods at the edge of town. While following them through the woods we were attacked by a swarm of rats. We continued on until we reached a stream where we lost the trail that night. The next night we went out and hid across the stream where we lost the trail the night before. The townspeople came, but seemed to be able to sense we were there. We remained hidden and let them move off. We heard the sounds of wolves fighting and went to investigate. There was a huge wolf fighting another one in a clearing. The larger wolf killed the smaller one. When the smaller one died it reverted back into human form.
The next day we confronted some of the townspeople that we knew were lycanthropes about what happened. They told us that they could not help us because of pack law. We told them to not go out tonight. That night one of them was killed in their home. They had not obeyed pack law and had suffered the consequences of our actions. We came up with a plan to kill the new pack leader. We followed the group to a mine where the new pack leader was forcing them to mine silver. We attacked the pack leader and we luckily able to kill him within a couple rounds, before the rest of the pack could get there to aid him. The new pack leader thanked us for helping them and has offered us help if we ever need it. We claimed the silver mine for the group and had the proper paperwork drawn up in town. The townspeople can mine it and we get 50%.
The next day we started investigating the rat problem. We started by digging down by the warehouse. A rat swarm came out and attacked us. We quickly dispatched them and kept digging. I noticed another swarm move into the holes on the opposite end of the building and shortly after the warehouse collapsed onto several party members. We regrouped and alerted the town as to what was happening. We tracked the rats back to the silver mine and killed several swarms and several lager rats. We observed no rat swarms that night.
While rapture was scouting the town the next night a wererat attacked him and then part of the tavern collapsed. While the party was digging people out of the rubble I kept guard and spotted someone standing by the collapsed warehouse down the street. I went to investigate and was confronted by a wererat in hybrid form. He explained to me what was happening. Long before the current residents were here, the druids of Obadhi and the wererats lived in this area together. The druids attacked the wererats trying to gain dominance in the area. This nearly wiped out the wererats and weakened their community for hundreds of years. The wererats have regained strength and are seeking vengeance on those that wronged them. I explained that these were not the people who harmed them originally, but in their eyes, blood is blood. I negotiated a deal where I would clear out the townsfolk for one week, but not the druids of Obadhi.
We returned after one week and the temple of Obadhi was completely gone, like it never existed and the damaged buildings in town were partly repaired. Rapture in planning on building a shrine of Hironeus somewhere in town.
Assist the Dwarves:
We have accepted a mission to help a Dwarven city clean out an infestation of Drow. We met with the dwarven leaders and gained entrance to the lower levels. The dwarves don't seem particularly nice, but have no problem point out the direction of the drow. The first are we entered into we were attacked by a group of Goblins and a group of Duergar. (Mission stopped)
